E.P.S. YACHTSMEN
SALVAGE IN EVANS BAY
The salvage of two keel yachts and a Harbour Board punt by members of the E.P.S. Yachtsmen's Auxiliary during the weekend showed that there is still reason for the continuation of the organisation, despite the recession of the threat of enemy action. Recent heavy weather in Evans Bay sank the keelers Wairere and SJiren and a Harbour Board punt which had been brought to the bay to salvage the yacht Manutahi—a feat which was successfully performed. During the weekend the E.P.S.Y.A. with: the launches Lady Mary (Captain G. Klee) and Nereides (Mr. Fred Prince), assisted by Mr. Cyril Headland, successfully manoeuvred the three sunken craft to the shore, where their complete recovery will be easily effected. All three tasks presented difficulties, but the yachtsmen organised in the E.P.S. ably rose to the occasion. * The keeler Kestrel, which was badly damaged by a recent . storm, was brought to the shore by her owners yesterday, and the Te Hongi, which also suffered severe storm damage, is now on the slip at Evans Bay.
