DIVIDENDS ANNOUNCED

Directors of South Otago Freezing Co., Ltd., recommend payment of a dividend of* 5 per cent, per annum for year ended August 31, and payable October 29. Wairarapa Farmers' Co-op, announces dividend 3 per cent, to preference shareholders, (payable October 4.

PERPETUAL FORESTS.

Liquidators of N.Z. Perpetual Forests, Ltd., report, for. the year ended March 31, that * distribution of shares in N.Z. Forest Products, Ltd., was made on March 22. The number involved was 19,111 fully-paid 5 per cent; noncumulative £1 preference shares and 60,548 fully-paid £1 ordinary shares. The only items preventing an immediate completion of the liquidation and payment of a final cash dividend are compromise of a contract with N.Z. Forests, Ltd., of England, an early settlement of which is expected, and the collection of balances due from sundry debtors.

WOOLBROKERS' YEAR.

Net profit of Wlnchcombe, Carson, Ltd., woolbrokejrs, Sydney; at £49,548 for the year' ended June 30 increased from £ 37,732 for 1941-42. Dividend, which was reduced last' year, is restored to 7 per cent.; requiring £38,500, and £10,000 is placed to reserve. Carry forward is £10,400, against £9352 brought "forward.

INSURANCE AND WAR.

"Bearing in mind the extremely difficult times through which we have been passing," said Sir William Goschen, chairman, Sun Insurance Co., London, "I feel that you will regard the foregoing record as very satisfactory. I would, however, venture to remind you that as the war continues so Its destructiveness to much normal commercial enterprise must progress. In the absence of opportunities to replace what the war has destroyed, insurance business such as ours must be adversely affected, and it is hot unlikely that this may he reflected In our accounts for 1943."

EGG SUPPLY AND PRICES. Combined Distributors reports that the rationing of the local supply of eggs at 40 per cent, of Wellington's normal requirements is unchanged for this week. Wholesale prices are as last week, namely:—Heavy, Is lo%d dozen; standard. Is B^d; medium, Is 7%d; pullets, fs 3%d; large duck, Is B%d; small duck. Is 7%d. Authorised receiving depots will pay Is 6d a dozen for ungraded eggs.
