AIR RAIDS IN BURMA
RUGBY, September 11.
Extensive air attacks on enemy troops, shipping, and, installations are continuing in Burma. An India communique records successful R.A.F. raids on objectives in the Akyab and Irrawaddy areas. During the previous three days, R.A.F. operations in western Burma were restricted by heavy cloud and rain, but attacks were made on troop positions near Maungdaw, and ;on river-craft on the lower Chindwin River, where more than 30 were sunk or damaged. From operations carried out during the period, one of our aircraft is missing.—8.0. W.
