COUNCIL VACANCY
There is at present a vacancy at the City Council table in consequence of the death of Councillor W. Duncan. It is expected that the council will decide upon a successor to the late Mr. Duncan at an early meeting. It has been the general custom, though there have been. departures on occasion, 11 the council to appoint the candidate next in order of votes at the preceding municipal election. Thus Councillor R. McKeen was appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Councillor L. McKenzie. Mr. C. H. Chapman is the next in order of votes cast at the last city elections. The late Councillor Duncan was chairman of the reserves committee, and it is expected that his successor as chairman will be appointed by the council at its next meeting.
