PLUNKET MEDAL AWARD

The annual Plunket Medal oratory competition took place at Victoria University College on Saturday night, the winner being Mr. H. M. O'Leary, who spoke on Marshal Foch. Each of the eight contestants was allowed to speak for not more than 12 minutes, and the following were the competitors with their subjects—Margaret Stewart (Francois Marie-Arouet-Voltaire), J. M. Ziman (Darwin), K. T. Fowler (Dimitrov), Helen O'Flynn (Rewi Alley), D. S. Campbell (Michael Joseph Savage), H. M. O'Leary (Marshal Foch), W. Rosenberg (ItzigMeyer Rosenkrantz), S. A. Gilhooly (Cardinal Mercier).

A large audience listened to the speeches, and the winner was the unanimous choice of the judges, Miss E. M. North, Mr. E. N. Hogben, and Mr. H. H. Cornish,. K.C.
