A warning that Australia must be prepared to make a maximum war effort for several years yet was given by the Army Minister, Mr. F; M. Forde. "The news of Italy's capitulation- is a tremendous encouragement, and I believe it is a happy augury oi: the outcome of the war," he said, "but we must not mistake this good news for an indication of the capitulation of the Axis Powers generally. "We have to be prepared to carry on this war with determination and maximum application for several years yet before we can hope to have a complete victory."
