THEFTS ALLEGED
EIGHT STATE EMPLOYEES
(P.A.) DUNEDIN, January 25. In the Magistrate's Court today eight Government servants, seven of whom were employed by the Army Department and the eighth in the Public Service, were charged with the theft of money, the property of the Government, as follows: Alexander Reid Young, £18 4s 6d; Percy Lawrence Dawson, £1 11s 6d; James William Harold Smith, £15 Is 3d; James Rivers, £15 12s lid; John Gerrard Farmer, £93 Os 3d; Lewis Norman Grant, £1 4s 3d; Eric Rowley Jory, £132 10s lid; Jack Bayne Townsend, £23 Is 4d. On the application of the police all were remanded till Friday on bail of £25 each. It was announced that there would be accompanying charges of forgery.
