PATRIOTIC APPEAL

TRADING BANKS GIVE £2100

The trading banks have given between them £2100 to this year's allpurposes patriotic appeal. ' The cheques have been sent to the National •Patriotic Fund Board, and the money will be allocated among the eleven provincial patriotic councils in proportion to their respective quotas. The individual contributions are as follows:—Bank of New Zealand, £1000; National Bank of New Zealand, Ltd., and Bank of New South Wales, £250 each; Bank of Australasia, Union Bank of Australia, Ltd., and Commercial Bank of Australia, Ltd., £200 each.

The National Patriotic Fund Board has also received recently a cheque for £500 from the New Zealand Public Service Association. Of this sum, £150 is to be credited to the Wellington district patriotic fund, the other district allocations to be notified later by the association.
