BROADCASTING HOURS
SURVEY OF LISTENERS
As a result of a request from the Electric Power Boards' Association, the Hutt Valley Electric Pqwer Board has held an investigation in connection with, radio broadcasting. The area covered by the investigation was carefully selected in order that it might be truly representative of the whole district. ' =. ■'
It was found that of the 575 houses visited all wireless sets operated during the day, for an average time of 3.96 hours. Eighty per cent, of sets were on from 7 to 8 p.m. and 70 per cent, at 9 p.m. Asked what session they would most readily do without, 80 per cent, of consumers showed preference for deleting the afternoon sessions, 69 per cent, the children's hour, and 92 per cent, the 10 p.m. to midnight session.
Members of the board remarked that these figures backed up their previous contention that in order to conserve electrical supplies the 10 p.m. to midnight sessions could be cut out.
