N.Z. AIRMAN'S CAREER

' Sergeant Pilot Arthur Roy Wilson, R.N.Z.A.F., son of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Wilson, Kainui Road, Hataitai, who lost his life recently as the result of an aircraft accident In Oxfordshire, England, was well known in Wellington. An old boy of Rongotai College, he was employed in turn by the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., the New Zealand Guarantee Corporation, and the Radio Corporation of NewZealand. He enlisted in the R.N.Z.A.F. in March last year.

He was well known in swimming circles, and in tramping, mountaineering, and skiing, and in his tramping activities included a great deal of river exploration work in the Tararuas. He was a member of the New Zealand Alpine Club, and climbed many of the major peaks in the Southern Alps. He was secretary of the ski section of the Tararua Club, and won the championship in 1937 and 1940. He was also a member of the Ruapehu Ski Club, and at the annual tournament at National Park last year won several trophies and one championship.

His only brother, Sergeant John Colin Wilson, R.N.Z.A.F., was killed in action in an air raid over Heligoland in May, 1941.
