ASSAULT CHARGES FAIL
George Gavin Perry, ship's fireman, aged 22, and James Leslie Wilson, seaman, aged 19, who were charged with assaulting John Flanagan, boatswain on an overseas ship, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and assaulting him so as to cause actual bodily harm, have been acquitted by a jury. in the Supreme Court. The offences were alleged to have occurred on January 2.
Mr. C. H. Weston, K.C., with 'aim Mr. W. R. Birks, appeared for the Crown, and Mr. R. R. Scott for the accused, who were discharged by Mr. Justice Johnston.
