DEATH IN GREEK HOSPITAL
Advice has been received of the death in Kokinia Hospital. Piraeus, Greece, pf Lance-Bombardier William Richard Jourdain, 2nd N.Z.E.F. He was educated at Kilbirnie School, Rongotai College. Nelson College, and Victoria University College, where he studied accountancy/He was in the service of the Commercial Bank, but he transferred to the Reserve Bank on its formation.
When he was 17 he joined the sth Battery, arid served in it till the outbreak of war. He left New Zealand with the First Echelon and served in Egypt,, taking part in the .Greek Campaign and being subsequently severely wounded in Crete. He was left in hospital in Crete at tlje evacuation, and was then transported by the Germans to the Kokinia Hospital, Piraeus, where he died on July 28.
