"RUSSIA WON'T FAIL"

STALIN'S CONFIDENCE

ONLY NEEDS SUPPLIES

NEW YORK, October 30,

Mr. Harry Hopkins, the first American supply envoy to Moscow, writing in the "American Magazine," says that M. Stalin declared: "We Russians will win the war. .The battle-line will remain west of . Moscow. Russia won't fail. Russia is big and inexorable. The Russians are fighting for Russia, and she will not again be enslaved. Once we trusted this man (Hitler)."

Mr. Hopkins commented: "I hope I shall never be hated as Stalin hates Hitler." .

He added that M. Stalin does not want an army or a navy, and that Russia wants to fight her war herself. Russia's man-power and reserves are huge, but M. Stalin said frankly that Russia needs tanks, planes, big guns, anti-aircraft and anti-tank guns, octane fuel, and huge quantities of barbed wire.
