INVASION PROSPECT
GERMAN PLANS
ORDER FOR A MILLION
PARACHUTES
(Rec. 2.20 p.m.) LONDON, August 17.
The Nazis will attempt an invasion of England before the end of this year at all costs, says the correspondent of the British United Press on the German frontier.
Germany, he says, is making a million parachutes, in order to attempt to invade England from the air. The parachutists will be dropped in foggy weather. The parachutes, which have been ordered by the High Command, include a type which enables troops to be dropped from a much lower altitude than before. All the silk mills in Germany have been ordered to end all unnecessary work and concentrate on the making of parachute silk.
