BRITISH LOAN TO SOVIET

Trade Pact Signed

LONDON, August 17.

It is announced in London'and Moscow that an Anglo-Soviet trade agreement was signed in Moscow yesterday by the People's Commissar of Trade and by Sir Stafford Cripps, the British Ambassador.

The agreement provides for the exchange of considerable quantities of goods between the two countries. The British Government will grant a credit to Russia of £10,000,000 at 3 per cent, for five years, and when this credit is exhausted there will be negotiations for a farther loan.

It is stated in London that the loan is to cover the difference between the trade balance between the two countries. It will only be a first instalment.
