ST. JOHN WOMEN'S WAR
COMMITTEE
The annual report of the Seatoun branch of the St. John Women's War Committee reveals a splendid record of work.
It states that sewing and knitting for sick and wounded soldiers resulted in 2338 articles being forwarded to the parent body—the Order of St. John Wellington Women's War Committee Comforts, books, and cigarettes have been sent to Fort Dorset, and, as a Christmas gift, six grey blanket dressing gowns were made and sent to the new Fort Dorset hospital. Seventy tins of shortbread and other comforts were forwarded for dispatch in the Joint Council Christmas parcels.
A' special effort was made to assist the St. John Ambulance appeal day both with street collectors and stocks! of cakes and provisions for the shop Parcels of useful garments have been sent to the Lady Galway Guild (Seaj toun branch), and the Little Britons Contact Committee has been assisted by members. The branch has been rej presented on the newly-formed Seatoun. I Patriotic Committee' by its secretary, Mrs. H. R. Ward. Lectures on hygiene; and home nursing have been a part of the year's programme, with 100 per cent, passes in the subsequent examination. \ The annual meeting was held at the I Seatoun Kiosk, Mrs. A. L.' George presiding. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:— Chairman, Mrs. A. L. George; secretary, Mrs. H. R. Ward; treasurer, Mrs. G. T. Kellaway;. executive committee. Mesdames H. Smith, A. Nicol, A. Hollings. H. F. Neild, N Manthel, A. Barr R. Bell; and a general committee of thirty-six members. Mrs Gaby addressed the meeting and the evening ended informally at Mrs. George's home, where supper was served.
