Mulholland, Dominion president of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, left Wellington last tiight on his return to the South Island. The Rev. Jasper Calder, Auckland City Missioner, who has been granted six months' sick leave, is taking his first extended holiday since his ordination to the ministry of the Anglican Church 30 years ago. He is a former president of the Wellington Basketball Referees' Association, and for a number of years has assisted the college by coaching the basketball teams. Major P. Atherfold, divisional communder of the Salvation Army in Dunedin, has received notice of his promotion to the rank of brigadier. Mr. Welsley Roberts, F.R.A.M., who k; examining for the Associated Board of the Royal Colleges of Music this season, is professor, lecturer, and examiner at the Royal Academy of Music. London. He last visited New Zealand as an examiner in 1925. Mr. A. .A. McLachlan, chairman of the Christchurch Tramway Board, has been appointed a temporary Magistrate to act in Christchurch for a period of two months during the absence of Mr. H. A. Young, S.M., as chairman of the Post and Telegraph Appeal Board.
