OBITUARY

MR. L. E. ST. GEORGE The death occurred recently in Wellington of Mr. Louis Edwin St. George, at the age of 91. He was born in New Plymouth in 1850 and was a son of the late Dr. G. H. F. St. George, a pioneer who arrived at New Plymouth in the barque Amelia Thompson in the year 1841, and married Miss M. J. Shaw at New Plymouth in 1842. Mr. St. George left New Plymouth in 1870, and travelled on horseback down the coast to Wellington, where he entered the Treasury. In 1873 he was transferred to the accountant's Office of the Public Works Department. Six years later he joined the staff of W. and G. Turn bull and Co., Wellington, where he remained for 30 years. He was a member of the New Zealand Society of. Accountants. The late Mr. St. George resided in Wright Street, Wellington, for 71 years, and enjoyed good health until a few days before his death. His wife died four years ago. He is survived by three daughters, one son, 13 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. ;
