LONDON, August 15. The Tokio correspondent of the United Press of America says it is confirmed that clashes on the Man-chukuo-Soviet border have been continuing, but have been fewer. It-will | be possible to complete the demarca-i tion of the frontier soon. The spokesman of the Japanese Cabinet Information Board, Mr, Ishii. today declared that Japan's relations with the Soviet were cordial and that his Government had made no demands on Russia. A Chungking War Office spokesman said today that Japan would restrict the entrance of foreigners into Manchukuo. starting on Monday. The implied object was to prevent the leakage of military information. It was announced in Tokio that a national sales tax, called a consumption tax will be imposed on October 1 on liquors, sugar, textiles, refreshments, amusements, and luxuries, including jewellery. The authorities said that the measure is designed to absorb purchasing power.
