GIFT PICTURES

FOR PATRIOTIC FUNDS

Artists in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, as well as other parts of the Dominion; are represented in a collection of pictures the New Zealand Society of Artists has presented to- the National Patriotic Fund Board in aid of patriotic funds. The collection comprises 138 pictures and is valued at £1200.

.-. All the pictures except eight are for sale. The eight pictures reserved are offered as prizes in an art union. With the co-operation of local authorities and art societies, the % board has made arrangements for' the pictures to be shown in a number of centres of the Dominion. The first exhibition was held recently in Nelson and was a great success. Fourteen of the pictures to a value of £140 16s were sold, as well as 30 books of art - union tickets, all that were sent. All the pictures will remain in the collection until the close of the exhibition itinerary.

The Wellington exhibition is to be opened in the lounge of Messrs. Kirkcaldie and Stains, Ltd., at 2.30 p.m. tomorrow by the Hon. W. Perr}', M.L.C., deputy chairman of the National Patriotic Fund Board. It is hoped that every work which is for sale will have been sold before the tour is completed.
