PERSONAL WAR RISK
AUSTRALIAN SCHEME
APPROVED IN PRINCIPLE
(Rec. 1 p.m.) CANBERRA, This Day.l The Federal Cabinet has approved j in principle, a personal war risk insurance scheme under which every civilian in the Commonwealth well be covered. The Commonwealth will. carry. the entire financial burden. Compensation will be paid to civilians who suffer personal injury from enemy action in Australia. The proposed compensation comprises, first, temporary allowances to tide incapacitated people over their period of incapacitation; secondly, permanent pensions to people totally incapacitated; thirdly, permanent pensions to dependants of breadwinners killed by enemy action. The scheme could be brought into operation under the National Security Act in twenty-four hours.—U.P.A.
