"The Road to 'Frisco."
Action, thrills, and adventure packed together in a way that spells entertainment for everyone are contained in "The Road to 'Frisco," which opens tomorrow at the St. James Theatre. The all-star cast consists of George Raft, Ann Sheridan, Ida Lupin o, and Humphrey Bogart. George Raft, as Joe Fabrini, who could take his women or leave them, finds that it isn't easy to leave a certain redhead, played by Ann Sheridan. She is a fiery, waitress at a roadside ( cafe where she serves and wisecracks with equal ability. But Raft's heart melts when he discovers that her flippancy hides., a loyal and sincere character. His brother, played by Humphrey Bogart, has an accident which costs him his right arm. Joe is then forced to ask a friend of his, portrayed by Alan Hale, for a job. Joe's troubles start anew when Ida Lupino, as Hales wife, falls in love with him and fails to take notice when he treats her coldly. • A sensational climax occurs when Lupino executes a vicious plan to murder her husband and win Joe. In addition to the starring cast, the supporting roles are handled by such popular screen favourites as Roscoe Kafns, John Litel, and Joyce Compton.
