MILD AND HUMID
EARLY MORNING DULL
Special forecast for Wellington:—
Light and variable winds. Weather mild and humid. The early morning may be dull, possibly with some fog or light drizzle, but thereafter the weather should be fine.
• The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole is for winds varying between south-east and north-east, but north-easterlies will gradually predominate from Canterbury and Nelson northward. Winds will be mainly moderate in force, but they will ibe freshening tomorrow in eastern districts north of Banks Peninsula. The weather will continue fair to fine and humid, with considerable morning low cloud or fog in eastern districts. Temperatures will be mild.
An extensive anticyclone remains stationary over New Zealand and the southern Tasman Sea, but pressure is relatively low over the north-western Tasman Sea. Winds have been light to moderate and variable, with southerly directions predominating. Except for ' cloudy skies yesterday south of Banks Peninsula, the weather has been fine generally with mild to warm temperatures. Similar conditions were in evidence again this morning, with considerable low cloud or fog on the East Coast.
Dunedin's weather yesterday was overcast, but the other main centres had fine weather with little wind. Each had low cloud this morning, but by 9 a.m. it was lifting. Wellington enjoyed 14 hours of bright sunshine yesterday. The maximum temperature rose to 69.1 degrees, while the minimum was 51 degrees.
