LAST-MINUTE WIN
When, in the last 'morafent of their match with Petone at the Petone Oval, Marlst Bros. Old Boys secured the winning try, a result was achieved that was earned on the run of Dlay Petone, particularly! in the forwards, were lifeless. Except for a brAef period .in the second spell when they managed to draw Jevel their display was disappointing. Marist, on the other hand, were more impressive in their endeavours. ; It was only in the set scrummage^ that Petone were superior, although there were occasional "ood individual efforts by the backs, in particular Dougan and Ryan. A fine display was given by Thomas at full-back, for Marist. Stanawny was one of the best- of Marist forwards, and McCarthy and Haines were real
toilers in the Petone pack. Tor Marist Smith scored two tries and Brown and Stanaway one each, Meadows converting one. Jlallett kicked two penalty goals for Petone and converted a try scored by McCarthy. Besult; Marist Bros. 0.8. 14, Petone 11. Mr. T. Kirk-Burnand was the referee. ' • .
