£25,000,000 PLAN

AIRCRAFT CONSTRUCTION

AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT

SYDNEY, February 8,

Sir Frederick Stewart, Minister of Supply, announced today that the Commonwealth Government will spend £25,000,000 on aircraft construction and maintenance in the next two and a half years.

He said that an Aircraft Commission, probably headed by Mr. H. W. Clapp, former Chief Commissioner of the Victorian Railways, was being set up and that workshops under its control would have to keep 3000 machines in the air.

Sir Frederick regretted that he was unable to disclose the numbers and types of aeroplanes being built.
