.Afghanistan and Iran have suggested to Irak that the Saadabad NonAggression Pact should be converted into a military alliance against Russian aggression. The Saadabad Pact includes Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, and Irak. It is suggested that Egypt might join.

The Treaty of Saadabad was signed on July 8, 1937, and was originally negotiated at Geneva nearly two years earlier. The pact was. described as one of friendship, consultation, and non-aggression, designed to assure political security in the Middle East.
