FORGED CURRENCY
NAZIS SUSPECTED
U.S. NOTES IN ITALY, EGYPT,
AND BALKANS
WASHINGTON, January 24. - The Secret Service is investigating reports that the Nazi Government has circulated enormous quantities of counterfeit American notes in Italy, Egypt, and the Balkan States. A similar desperate device to obtain foreign exchange was once used by the Soviet Government.
The latest currency notes are more convincing than privately-printed counterfeits;
