AUSTRALIA'S GROWTH
PRIMARY AND SECONDARY INDUSTRIES
A survey of the growth of Australia's primary and secondary industries was "made by Senator the Hon. P. A. M. Mcßride at a luncheon given in his honour by the Wellington Chamber :of Commerce today. Mr. Mcßride, who is assistant Minister of Commerce in the Federal Cabinet of Australia, devoted particular attention to Australia's aircraft industry and to plans for the absorption into industry of men released from service after the war. . ■ ... . ' ' ■ . Captain S. Holm presided, and introduced the speaker, and the Minister of Industries and Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) moved a vote of thanks. ■ The large attendance included the Hon. F. Jones, Minister of Defence; Sir "Harry Batterbee, High Commissioner for the United Kingdom; Dr. d'Acunzo, Consul for Italy; Mr. R. Boulter, British Trade Commissioner; Mr. G. H. Meadmore, CommissionerGeneral of the United Kingdom Pavilion' at the • Exhibition; Mr. T. R. Toovey, Port of London Authority representative; Mr. C. E. Critchley, Australian Trade Commissioner; Mr. J. L. Menzies, Assistant Australian Trade Commissioner; Mr. W. J. H. Wilcox, j Commissioner for the Australian ! Court at the Exhibition; Mr. M. F. Luckie, Deputy Mayor; and Mr. W. S. Mac Gibbon, of Christchurch, president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce.
