"MADE IN NEW ZEALAND" A directory of New Zealand manufacturers has been revised by the Department of Industries and Commerce -It gives particulars of all articles made from cigars to inks, from boilers to carpets—^an exceedingly wide range, In a foreword to the directory the Minister of Industries and Commerce (the Son. D. Q. Sullivan) states that "the great variety of New Zealand products .will probably surprise many who are tiot familiar'with the recent development of our - industries. A careful cerusal of this directory will also show that the Dominion now manufactures most of the*essential needs of life. The time spent and expense entailed in the compilation and publication of the directory will be well repaid if all who, study its-contents will mak^, the resolve to give preference in purchases to goods made in New Zealand, where quality - and price are comparable to goods made elsewhere." The Department reports that it has made every effort to ensure that the information is correct and the directory may be relied upon as being as up to date and complete-as the details supplied by manufacturers themselves will allow. Assistance in obtaining information has been rendered by the Department of- Labour and the Manufacturers': Associations. A record will be .kept by the Department of al further new industries, and lists of amendments will be available. The Department seeks the co-operation of all manufacturers and buyers in the work of: maintaining the directory as an accurate and up-to-date reference, n the form in which it will be of the greatest practical use to all concerned.
