KILBIRNIE R.S.A.

The clubrooms of the Kilbirnie auxiliary of the Wellington R.S.A. were well filled last Thursday when a challenge by the Ngaio auxiliary for possession of the Tahiwi Table Tennis Shield was successfully withstood. Tha games were keenly contested and the evening was thoroughly enjoyed by players and spectators alike. Not the least appreciated part of a full programme was the delightful savoury supper provided by the members of the ladies' committee. During the supper iriter%^al the chairman of the auxiliary, Mr. Donald Gunn, made a presentation on behalf of the members to Mr. S. Frickleton, V.C., a foundation member of the auxiliary, who is leaving the district to take up residence at Lower Hutt. Mr. Frickleton, after returning thanks, asked members to keep the visit of the Australian Diggers next year in view and outlined a scheme which he thought would ensure the adequate entertainment of the visitors as far as the Kilbirnie auxiliary is concerned. His remarks were warmly received. At the conclusion of the competition Mr. L. Mills,' Ngaio, presented the shield to-Mr, D. Gilbert.: captain of the successful team. It was announced that on Tuesday next Kilbirnie would be meeting the Johnsonville auxiliary at Johnsonville in competition for the Evans billiards trophy. In accordance with the recent reorganisation of the auxiliary social activities it is hoped that an interchange of visits with other auxiliaries will occur twice monthly.
