THE LATE F. W. TILLEY
The funeral of the late Mr. F. W. Tilley, the well-known and popular trainer, whose death occurred on Monday, took place yesterday, and was largely attended. The cortege, which extended for more than a mile, proceeded from the residence at Fordell to the Matarawa Church, where the funeral service was held, the congregation filling the church to overflowing. The services in the church and at the graveside in the cemetery adjoining were conducted by the Rev. W. M. Smallfield. of the Anglican Church, who paid an eloquent tribute to Mr. Tilley. The pallbearers were fully representative of the racing community, consisting of Messrs. T. Mitchell (Wangaliui Jockey Club). C. Price (Foxton Racing Club). J. Caldow (Rangitikei Racing Club). M. Grogan (New Zealand Breeders' Association), L. G. Morris (New Zealand Trainers' Association),, and B. H. Morris (New Zealand Jockeys' Association).
