HOUSE DESTROYED
SPECTACULAR FIRE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
GISBORNE, Thir Day.
'A spectacular fire at Kaiti last night destroyed, a sixteen-roomed house owned and occupied by Mr. R. C Fisken. The '">laze was fanned by a strong wind, and as the nearest water plug was 200 yards away some time elapsed before the brigade was able to play water on the flames, which | also threatened an adjoining house. The origin of ths. outbreak is a mystery as Mr. and Mrs. Fisken had been away for a week and only returned the previous day. No fire had been lit for more than a week. Nothing was saved from the house, and Mr. Fisken's loss includes valuable "cups and trophies won by him as a trotting pwner and driver. The house was insured for £2400.
