ARANUI CHANGES HANDS
The two-year-old Colossus colt Aranui, who won a race in Melbourne (early in the season and recently was third in the two classics at the C.J.C. Easter Meeting, has been sold by his owner-trainer, P. T. Hogan, to Mr. J. Richardson, of Dunedin, the former All Black. He is temporarily in J. C. Tomkinson's stable at Yaldhurst, but will probably be sent over to Victoria shortly to race again in Melbourne during the spring months. Aranui is a fine stamp of chestnut colt, and Hogan has always held a high opinion of him. His dam, Cupid's Mark, was by Arrowsmith out of the Boniform — Peace mare Sleeping Beauty, hence he hails from the same family as The Banker, Kilwinning, Chakwana, Lady Kyra, Notium, Palm, Blixten, Wheriko, Disturbed, etc. The price at which he has changed hands has not been disclosed, but it was probably a substantial figure, as Hogan paid 240 guineas for him as a yearling. He was bred by Miss M. B. Lawrie, of Boundary Road, Palmerston North.
