MEETING OF BOARDS

HUTT VALLEY TECHNICAL COLLEGE

The final meeting for the year of! the Board of Managers of the Hutt ] Valley Memorial Technical College i was held last evening. , The Education Department advised that' it,had-made m allocation ol ten, new typewriters to the school. , - The principal reported that a mcdi-, cal' inspection jof , the . girls , h.ad re■cently Tseeri "made' 'and" that'an endeavour would be made to have the boys medically examined in the coming

year. Notification was received of the ap.proval of the Department to the appointment of Mr. W. A. Ritchie as head of a department in the school. It was decided to ask for a similar privilege to be granted in the case of Mr. A. W. Riddolls.

The -proposal of a firm to supply -free exercise, books on condition that the board allowed the firm ,to advertise on the covers was not entertained.

The board thanked Todd Motors, Ltd., for a donation of £2 2s. A letter of thanks was received from Mr. E. T. Spidy for the work done for railway apprentices by Mr. A. McFadyen, principal of the school.1 The principal was appointed to represent the college at a conference calle4 by the Wellington City Council to consider a library scheme for secondary schools.

The Petone Rowing' Club was cordiall;- thanked for its offer of the gift of a practice boat and coaching for a crew. The offer was accepted provided a crew was available next year. The generqsity of the club in offering -to house the boat was appreciated.
