The annual Dominion, conference 'of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union will take place in Wellington next week, being preceded by preliminary meetings of the executive.
The list of officials, most of whom will be arriving in Wellington at the weekend, is as follows:—Dominion president, Mrs. J. F. Drake (Berwick, Otago), Mrs. C. K. Wilson (Pio Pio, King Courftry), president emeritus, Mesdames J. C. Wickham (Wanganui), T. R. Barrer (Masterton), Noel Adams (Clevedon), W. Ward (Lumsden), H. A. Nutt (Canterbury), A. Forsyth (Nelson), C. C. Jackson (Dominion treasurer), T.. Snowden (Te Kuiti), F. Ryburn (Ohaupo), W. Lane (Kaeo), D. Simpson* (Marton), N.. Mclntosh (Invercargill), W. Elliott (Clarendon), B. E. Evans (Maungati), L. Hebberd (Utiku), and Miss M. Poison (Wanganui).
added much to the effectiveness of the plan of decoration. Quaint shaped ballopns were on every table, and when carried round in the dances had an amusing effect. Tall- palms were here and there, and in the entrance lounge there were tables with vases of vivid Iceland poppies. The supper was served in cabaret fashion, the tables, being arranged around the hall, In convenient fashio'h so that all were well and easily served.
The official guests were the Mayor and Mrs. . Hislop (the latter in a charming frock of ciel blue crepe de chine and a posy of orchids and carnations on the corsage), Group-Captain and Mrs. Cochrane, Group-Captain and Mrs. T. M. Wilkes, Major and Mrs. Byron, Wing-Commander -and .Mrs. Isitt, Captain and Mrs. Oliver (the latter in Burgundy velvet with pearl ornaments and fur cape wrap), Squad-ron-Leader and Mrs. Nevill, SquadronLeader and Mrs. Btfrrell, Colonel and Mrs. vManson, Flight-Lieutenant and Mrs. Makgill, Commander and Mrs. Horan, Major and Mrs. Free, Mr. and Mrs. J. Buckeridge.
The executive of the Wellington Aero Club included Mr. and Mrs. Cadwallader, Mr. and Mrs. J. Kirkcaldie, Mr. and Mrs. B. L. R. Furkert (the latter in black lace heavily embroidered in gold thread), and Messrs. K. W. B. Anderson, V. Reece, G. Martin, R. I. N. Sutherland, and C. Bennett. The ball committee consisted of Mrs. B. R. Furkert and Messrs. C. Bennett and K. W. B. Anderson.
During the evening a novelty ballet was danced, and a clever boy gave a tap dance. The orchestra also provided some new ideas in the way of music, with crooning accompaniments to a number.
No trouble was spared to make the dance a success, and those who made the arrangements must have been well rewarded by the enjoyment of the guests.
