REPUBLICAN FLEET
COMPLETELY CRIPPLED
ITALIAN PLANES' RAID
ROME, July 6. Italian planes from Majorca completely crippled the Spanish republican fleet on June 17, according to a j message from Saragossa published in ; the Rome newspaper "II Messagero." Confirmation of the success of the raid was delayed because the loyalists threatened to shoot anyone who spread the news. ' The cruisers Libertad and Cervantes and the destroyer Almirante Valdes are stated to have been badly damaged and will be useless for many months. The battleship Jaime Primero was bombed months ago and is still being repaired.
