Brooklyn Plunket Society. The committee of the Brooklyn Plunket Society commenced its activities for the ensuing year by holding a very successful "500" card evening at the Returned Soldiers Hall, Brooklyn. There was a large attendance of players and a most enjoyable evening was spent. Prizes were won by Mesdames Cox, Cook, and Innes, and Messrs. Smith and Cox. A dainty supper was served by members of the committee. The annual dance is to be held towards the end of July and the committe is sparing no effort to make the function a success. It is hoped that the residents of Brooklyn and district as well as town friends will support the effort and help to make the dance an outstanding feature of the year. Central Croquet Club. The annual general meeting of the Central Croquet Club,. Petone, was held recently in the club's pavilion, there being a good attendance of members. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron and patroness, Dr. and Mrs. Harding, sen.; president, Mrs. L. Pointon; vicepresidents, Mesdames Bryan, Pawson, Brockelbank, Fox, Kirk, and Monks; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mrs. J. A. Annear; club captain, Mrs. Pawson; vice-club captain, Mrs. Ridley; committee, Mesdames Ibell, May, Bryan, Sharpe, Goddard, Morgan, Brockelbank, and Warner; tea convener, Mrs. J. May; match committee, Mesdames Morgan, Bryan, and God-, dard; delegates to > Wellington Croquet Association, Mesdames Annear and Pawson; hon. auditor, Mr. W. Watkinson. Health and Beauty. With the growing "health sense" in New Zealand, there will be many who will be interested to hear that a branch of the Women's League of Health and Beauty is being established in Wellington. The Bagot-Stack stretch' and swing movements are stated to be both easy for people of all ages and most health-giving in their benefits. They have been approved by leading medical authorities in Great Britain, and are practised in many countries in different parts of the world. Miss Caroline Ward is introducing. them in Wellington, and they have already been started in Auckland and Christchurch, and are proving very popular. Meeting at Ohariu. Mrs. Bruce presided at a recent meeting of the members of the Ohariu Women's Institute. Mrs. Bryant gave a most interesting talk on her recent motor tour of the South Island. An album of snaps taken on the trip was passed around the members. Mrs. Bryant received a vote of thanks and a posy of flowers at the conclusion of her talk. The competition for the month was a written one and was won by Mrs. Ahradsen. A short spelling bee was held in place of the roll-call and created much amusement. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostess. To Visit Australia. Mrs. Edwin Wray, Salamanca Road, entertained a large number of friends at an afternoon party at The National Club. Mr. and Mrs. Wray will leave by the Awatea on Friday to spend several months in Australia. Among those present were Mesdames H. H. Wray, Russell, White, Southwick, Dick, Kirkcaldie, Baker, Wicks, Davys, Wheeler, O'Connell, Kask (England), Christie, and Misses Wheeler and Taylor Victoria League Ball. The ballets at the Victoria League ball tonight have been arranged and trained by Mr. J. Knowsley and Miss Carwell-Cooke.
