FARMER FINED

UNREGISTERED TRACTOR (By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N., This Day. A case of interest to the farming community was heard in the Magistrate's Court today when George Young was charged with having an unregistered agricultural tractor on the highway. Counsel for the defence explained that Young had two farms, one on each side of the road, ar\jl it was contended that it was absurd to expect that the tractor should be registered as an ordinary motor because it had to be taken 100 yards along the road from one farm to the other. A traffic inspector directed the Court's attention to the regulations, which provided for such a contingency. The main difficulty was third party risk in case of an accident. A small fee of 10s, plus 2s for plates, was fixed, so; the cost to the farmer was only 12s. The defendant was fined £1, with costs.
