LOSS OF KOTARE

REGRET , Reference to the disaster which befell Union Airways' Lockheed Electra machine Kotare at Auckland recently, with the loss of the lives of the pilots, Commander C. M. Duthie and Second Officer W. J. Peel, was made at.last night's meeting of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. The president, Mr. P. E. Pattrick, saiff he was sure all members of the council, in .common with, the rest of the business community, had been shocked by the tragedy in the loss of thesKotare. On 'behalf of the council a letter was sent to the manager of Union Airways expressing the sympathy of the council with the relatives of Commander Duthie t and Second-Officer Peel. The letter had also expressed the full confidence of 'the council in. the company and the hope that it would not meet with simiiar misfortune again. At the request i of Mr. Pattrick, members stood as a mark of respect to the two airmen who lost their lives.
