NORTH V. SOUTH MATCH WELLINGTON COMMITTEE MEETS

The New Zealand Rugby Union wrote to the management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union last night inviting nominations for the North Island team to play the South Island at Wellington on June 11. Information as to whether players are available for selection for the New Zealand tour of Australia is also desired. Nominations are to be in the hands of the secretary by June 2. A letter was received from the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition Company inviting a representative of the union to attend shortly a general meeting of representatives of all organisations controlling all forms or sports and pastimes, to discuss generally the 1 question of sports in connection with tlie New Zealand Centennial Exhibition. . The Petone Club advised that in the club's sixth grade match against Taita last week the latter club played two over-age men. The union decided to call for certificates. , The same club advised that in tup club's junior A (first division) match against Athletic, the score at one stage was 8-3 in favour of Athletic. Petone scored, making the score 8-6, but the referee, after signalling the conversion, which made the scores level, reversed his decision when several Athletic players protested they had touched the ball. This left Athletic the winners by 8 to 6 and the Petone Club wanted to know whether a referee, having given a decision, was in his rights in reversing it. The matter was referred to the Referees' Association for a report. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS. Club championship points to date are as follows:—Poneke 32, Petone 31, Hutt 28, Wellington 26, Athletic 19, Marist Bros.' Old Boys 18, Eastbourne] 14, Wellington College Old University 13, Miramar -12, Pirates 12, St. Patrick's '©Id Bbys" 12, Seatoun 12. It 'was decided to advise the Marlborough Rugby Union that an endeavour would be made to be represented at its jubilee on June 11 and 12. Logan, from Wellington to Pirates; H. S. Maher, from Hutt (Army) to Onslow; K. Lawn, from Wellington to Hutt; R. L. Congreve, from Plimmerton to Seatoun and Rongotai College, Old Boys; J. Hepenstall from Technical Old Boys to Wellington. The union decided that no transfers would be granted'lfter May 31, except in exceptional circumstances. R. Morgan and G. Foote (Timaru), D. M. Stuart (Dunedin), and R. Paterson (Hamilton) .were announced by the \Wellington Club to have - gained clearances from their respective clubs.

The Karori Club was granted permission to play a game against thel Paraparaumu Club, at Karori Park, on the King's Birthday. The Athletic Club nominated a furr ther team for either junior or third grade, and this also,was accepted. REPRESENTATIVE GAMES. The Southland Union confirmed Wednesday, September 14, as the date for the -Wellington-Southland , representative game, at Invercargill. If still holding the Ranfurly Shield the match will be regarded as ,a challenge fixture. The South Canterbury. Union confirmed the tentative arrangements for the Wellington-South Canterbury game at Timaru, on September 21. \ The Manawatu Union confirmed September 17 as the date for the Welling-ton-Manawatu game, to be played at Wellington. - The Auckland Union .confirmed September 14 as the date for the Auck-land-Wellington match, at Wellington.
