MARLBOROUGH MEETINGS
A substantial increase las been made in the stakes for the Maryboroughi Bacine Club's Annual Meeting and the Mfrlborough Trotting Club's Annual Meeting the week after next and the programmes are now of quite an attractive nature for provincial meetings. The trotting meeting will be held on Friday, May 13 and the galloping fixture on Saturday and Monday, May 14 and 16. The trotters and pacers will have eleven events over the three days, including two trotters' races and also the Maryborough handicap, which carries with the prize-money a handsome canteen of cutlery, which has been donated by James Buchanan and Sons, Ltd. , , At the gallops on the Saturday and Monday there are two open events, two hack events, and a maiden race each day. The Marlborough Cup, run on the Saturday, carries a prize of £120 to the winner, together with a canteen of cutlery. Entries for all events at both meetings are due at 9 o'clock on Tuesday evening next.
