MARTARA'S BROTHER WINS
When the yearling full-brother lo Martara was purchased at the Trentham sales the January before last, there were some who thought that Mr. W. R. Kemball had paid enough at 350 guineas. But the following day Martara won the Douro Cup with top weight, and on the final day he took the open Summer Handicap, which immediately made the purchase appear in a brighter light. It is now interesting to learn that this colt won his first race recently in the Maiden Two-Year-Old Handicap at Williamstown. He has apparently been rosold by Mr. Kemball, as he raced in the colours of Mr. F. K. Manson under the name of Mukama. He started at a longish price in the ring and paid a still better price on the totalisator, so his success appears to have been in the nature of an all-round surprise.
