PLUNKET SHIELD

THIS WEEK'S FINAL

AUCKLAND V. WELLINGTON

There will be no matches next Sat.urday in the Wellington Cricket Association, the Hutt Valley Cricket Association, and the Wellington Mercantile Cricket League championship competitions, the postponement being made on account of the Plunket Shield final in which Auckland and Wellington will meet at the Basin Reserve. The Shield match, viewed as one of the most important of its kind in Wellington for years, is to commence on Friday, and it is being anticipated with an interest as great as when an, overseas team is here. Four days are allotted for the nrmtch, with play starting at 11 a.m. each day. One reason for the special interest in the coming match is that last year Wellington and Auckland, in the match ■at Auckland,-provided one of the best games on record. Many of the participants in that match will be in action1 this time, and not a few of them benefited by the experience gained on the recent tour to England. .In no other match in New Zealand this season has there been so many New Zealand' representatives as are to take part in this final of the Plunket Shield series.
