FALSE PRETENCE
PETROL OBTAINED
Pleading guilty to. obtaining, seven gallons of petroj »on .November 5 at Taumaruftui by a. false pretence, Max-; well Ernest Butler,, mechanic, aged 25; appeared before Mr. W. F. StilweU, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today.
Detective-Sergeant P. Doyle said that the accused converted a motorcar at Hamilton on November 4. He drove the car'to Wanganui, and at Taumarunui stopped at the Rangatira Service Station. Here he represented that his name was Schultz, and that he was- employed: by Meredith Motors, of Hamilton, which firm had an account at the station. , He was supplied with the petrol. Subsequently he was. arrested, and was dealt.with yesterday in the .Supreme Court on the cpnversion charge. - - ■. ; ■
The. accused was sentenced to . one ,month's imprisonment. : ,
