"DISAPPEARING TRICK"
Pleading-guilty to. drunkenness and to the theft of Bs, James Wallace Bar-' hett, seaman, aged 65, appeared before Mr. W. E. Stilwejl, S.T\l.,,in the Magistrate's Court today. • Detective-Sergeant P. Doyle said that i on November 9 tne accused and the complainant were both in the Britannia Hotel. The accused said: "Give me 8s and I'll show you a trick." The complainant did so, and the accused per^ formed the trick by disappearing. He Was convicted and discharged on the first, count, and fined £2 and costs, in default fourteen days' imprisonment, on the second.
