HUTT VALLEY W.D.F.U.
The Hutt Valley branch of the women's division of the Farmers' Union met in St. Hilda's Hall recently. The president, Mrs. Hawthorne, presided over a fair attendance. Correspondence read included an interesting circular from the World Peace League. A letter of thanks was read from the Thames Valley executive for helping with the sale of a book in aid of W.D. funds. A sum of 25a was collected among the members to send Christmas cheer and comforts to the lepers on Makogai Island. Mrs. Marris (Petone) gave an interesting demonstration of the making Of hairpin d'oyleys. She was presented with a bouquet of polyanthus after judging the monthly competition of the three best bulbs, the prize winners being Mrs. Collett first and Mrs. Marris second. The hostesses were Mesdames Marris and Blewman.
