MIRAMAR SCHOOL
WELCOME TO HEADMASTER
A very pleasant evening was held recently "by the Miramar Central Home and School Association as a welcome to the new headmaster, Mr. T. A. Nicholl, formerly of Dannevirke. A highly entertaining programme was submitted and was greatly appreciated by the parents present. At supper time speeches of welcome were made. Mr. J. J. Clarke, speaking on behalf of the Wellington Education Board, expressed the opinion that Miramar Central School would be one of the. finest in the district when the present groun^ improvements were completed. Mr. C. D. Wallis. chairman of the school committee, also welcomed the headmaster, and expressed the hope that the same measure of co-operation as was given by Mr. Nicoll's predecessor would be forthcoming. The president of the Home and School Association, Mrs- M. Meaclem, welcomed Mr. Nicholl on behalf of the parents, and gave him an assurance that the association would do all that was possible for the benefit of the children. Mr. Beatie also extended to Mr. Nicholl a warm welcome on behalf of the teaching staff.
Items were given by Miss Una Weller, Mr. Arthur Haley, Mr. Rashbrooke, Mr.; Ham Bennett and his Hawaiian Quartet, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Saville, Mrs. Wells, Miss Sterling, Mrs. Binns, and Mrs. Melvin. The accompanist was Mr. Bryant.
