THEFT OF SHOES

Pleading guilty to stealing a pair of shoes valued at 12s lld,^ Robert Lawson, a news vendor, appeared before Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today. Sub-Inspector J. A. Dempsey said that the accused was nearly 70, and had been drinking. A shop attendant heard a noise at the door of the shop and saw the accused going off with a pair of shoes. The attendant took the shoes away from him, and he was later apprehended by a constablp. His only other, offence was committed in January of this year, and in that case also drink was the cause. The accused was convicted and discharged, on condition that he take out a. prohibition order against himself.
