FIRES

Shortly before 10.30 this morning the Fire Brigade received a call to 256 Adelaide Eoad,' where a fire had broken out in a single storey wooden garage at the back of a dwelling. The garage was full of stored furniture, and both garage and contents were damaged by the flames. The occupier of the property was Mr. Arthur de Lacey, and the owner Mrs. L. J. Oxley, who is at present abroad. The premises adjoining the garage, a two-storey house, were damaged by fire, the east I wall being slightly burnt by the flames. These premises were occupied by Mr. A. Hawthorn, and owned by Mr. C. Richardson. A call to a fire that had broken out in a locked sedan car, parked in Harris Street, was received by the Fire Brigade at 12.19 . p.m. today. The car, which was owned by Mr. Thomas Stevenson, of 142 Adelaide Road, was not badly damaged.
