TRAINING OF YOUTHS
The last of a series of conferences held by the committee set up by the Employers' Federation, the New Zealand Federation of Labour, the V.M.C.A., and the Chamber of Commerce was conducted by the Acting Minister of Labour (the Hon. P. C. Webb) today. The Government's proposals concerning the subsidising of the wages of young men prepared to learn the building trade were considered, and were unanimously endorsed by the committee. After the meeting the Minister met the executive of the Builders' Federation and representatives of the Labour Department to discuss the proposals. This meeting also approved of the scheme. The Minister stated after the meeting that he would issue a detailed statement regarding the action taken.
